SVdP/Outreach

Ministry Purpose & Description

The vocation of the Society’s members, who are called Vincentians, is to follow Christ through service to those in need and so bear witness to His compassionate and liberating love.

The Conference of St. Vincent de Paul is parish based. Therefore, everyone living in the St Lucy’s parish neighborhood is eligible for assistance, whether they are parishioners or not. The funds received from the quarterly second collection and other special collections for St Vincent de Paul are used to help those clients in-need with rent and utility assistance, food, food cards and toiletries. The Conference also has a food and toiletry collection during the masses on the third Sunday of each month, which is distributed to the housed and unhoused that visit the outreach office.

Faithful to the spirit of its founders, the Society constantly strives for renewal, adapting to changing world conditions. It seeks to be ever aware of the changes that occur in human society and the new types of poverty that may be identified or anticipated. Vincentians endeavor to help the poor to help themselves whenever possible, and to make them aware that they can forge and change their own destinies.

Our Conference is currently looking for new members. What does it mean to be a Vincentian? Vincentians are called to journey together towards holiness. They aspire to burn with the love of God as revealed by Christ and to deepen their own faith and fidelity. They draw nearer to Christ, serving Him in the poor and one another.
