Ministry to the Sick and Homebound

Ministry Purpose & Description

Established in 1974 members of this ministry take Eucharist to and visit the people in the parish and those in rest homes who are ill and unable to come to church. It is an extension of our mission as a parish community to reflect the compassion and healing power of Jesus.

We welcome people who demonstrate compassion, care, and concern for the sick and elderly. This ministry is very close to that of Jesus – spiritual healing often occurs. Workshops are provided both by the Diocese and parish to help ministers to prepare for this ministry.

Meeting Frequency and Time Commitments

We spend time with those in our parish who are in need of our company. St. Lucy’s community has 11 rest homes, 2 hospitals & several individuals who are home-bound. The time commitment varies according to the availability of the minister and people’s needs.
